Scorch Series Romance Thriller Book 4
He is her only way out.
She is a dangerous distraction.
Melody’s best chance to flee pandemic ravaged Los Angeles is a man who barely acknowledges her existence. He looks like a greek god, and his single-minded focus makes him a ruthless protector. Unfortunately, Dante treats her like an obligation—only helping Melody because of a promise made to his brother.
Dante Luciano lived a solitary life, screening out unwanted stimuli and avoiding relationships. When Scorch flu blazes across the country, he is forced out of his compound and onto the road with a woman impossible to ignore.
If they want to survive, Dante can’t risk losing focus…and there are a thousand miles between them and safety.
***Sensitivity warning: this book contains rape themes.***
Dante and Melody from the start are adorable and make it very easy for a reader to bond with them. Dante, in particular, is a complex character. He has autism, and Toby Neal (who has worked with adults with autism) does an excellent job trying to illustrate how he thinks, feels and experiences life, and many things that most take for granted. To place him in the romance hunk role, and to do it well, is awesome.
Melody herself is exceptionally understanding and a survivor. Watching them fall in love was sweet. Their hardships are devastating-
it took me a bit longer than normal to finish, because it was so emotionally wrenching. Their journey through those and the healing after shows how strong they are and together.
Also worth noting, April is Autism Awareness month. This book will release the beginning of April, which is very fitting.
