I love this series of books. The main character is complex, fragile and strong at the same time, fairly unpredictable and rich. This is not great literature but it is very good reading. I usually read these books in 2 or 3 sittings as once the plot is in action it is hard to find a place to breathe and step away. I like that the heroine takes us to different parts of the world and allows us to see the underbelly we would not see as tourists (which is maybe a good thing). Sidney is a modern Xena, Queen of the Warriors, but she has this conflicted side, this gentle side all overruled by her passion for justice. And thus, Sidney is constantly challenged about what path to take, what love to allow, what “truth” she is really seeking. Plus, she has this great canine side kick. What's not to love?Deborah Knittel
